Green and Natural Burials -
What You Can Do
You got to this page because you are curious about natural burials....we need more people like you! At this time, the natural burial movement is still infancy stages.
People are just starting to hear about it and realize that it can be done. Organizations and people are getting on board, however. we still have more educating to do.
Grassroots educating about natural burial starts with one person. YOU!
So How Can You Get More Involved?
-
First- talk about it!! People avoid the conversation of death until it happens and at that time it's usually too late to research other options. Bring it up over dinner, hanging out with friends, spread the word.
-
Get in touch with local green and natural burial sites. Go visit them, talk to them, and learn all you can about their sites. Each green cemetery or natural burial grounds will have their own history, their own group of people involved as well as their own terrain, native flowers and stones. We can gladly put you in touch with people in your area. Click here for more information on finding a natural burial site near you.
-
You can do educating and sales for funeral directors by selling eco friendly caskets and coffins. Funeral homes need to know what the consumers are saying. We need people to go funeral homes and talk to the funeral director about natural burial offerings. If there is a product involved, they may be more interested in learning about how their business can benefit by offering unique alternatives. Click here to find out more about selling eco coffins.
-
Create an online presence of your advocacy, talk about it online discussion groups. Offers seminars, panels and workshops to get people together and talk about it. Talk about it over coffee or at teatime.
-
Start up your own natural green burial cemetary. Research the laws and requirements in your state about using land as a natural burial ground.
-
Go to local cemeteries and church graveyards and recruit for green burial. Ask them to reserve space in their cemetery for natural burial interment. Most historical church graveyards probably already have natural burials in their cemetery, ask them about it. Research the history and recreate history.
So...take your pick and run with it. We'll be glad to support you anyway you go.
