Spotlight on Excellence - The Bamboo Coffin

It's a difficult thing to consider, and no one really wants to think about it, but inevitable, someone you know will die, and you may be in charge of the funeral planning, or even have to bear the expenses.

Funerals are not free, there is embalming to consider, the funeral home, the casket, the burial, and even annual maintenance fees for the grave.

These are just a few basic costs, and there are in fact, many many more. However, one of these costs, can be reduced significantly, and that cost is the coffin.

Bamboo, which grows in various parts of the world, including Asia and some places in the southern Americas, is a highly replaceable plant. It can be chopped off at the root, and grow back to it's full height in as little as 59 days, with some variations of it growing as much as one meter per day.

This has made it an ideal material for many different types of furniture, and certain structures in parts of the world. It has also been used in coffins.

These natural made coffins may be obtained for mere hundreds of dollars, as opposed to the thousands that a traditional coffin would require.

These eco earth-friendly coffins are available in multiple sizes, and are relatively easy to ship, with smaller sizes being placed inside the larger ones, therefore not requiring multiple packages.

How Eco-Coffins Are Made From Bamboo

Bamboo coffins can either be woven, or they can be put together with bamboo slats, either way, they are a biodegradable alternative to regular wooden or metal coffins, meaning that they are much better for our environment.

There is nothing added to the bamboo during the manufacturing of these coffins, ensuring that the materials remain all natural.

Because these are lightweight, the fuel requirements to ship these coffins is very low, in fact, it would require more fuel for a car to travel five miles, than it would for a shipment of these coffins to travel from China to the United Kingdom, which makes them a great alternative to standard coffins.

Less fuel means less pollution, meaning Mother Earth stays happy, and the planet survives a lot longer.

Of course there are other problems to take into account, such as cars, smoking, power plants, nuclear power, etc, and this small measure seems hardly enough to make up for it, but everyone has to do their part to ensure the environment remains healthy, and it must be done one step at a time, even if it is just a baby step.

Environmental Friendly Coffins

Preparing for a funeral can be incredibly difficult, especially if it's someone very close to you that has just died, like a mother, or sibling, and your first instinct may be to go with the traditional casket style, and if that is what your loved one has requested, then that's fine.

However, if you can, try to go with an environmentally friendly casket, because chances are, your dearly departed may prefer this, as many people are concerned with the environment.

Furthermore, when writing out your will, if you care about the environment, specify that you want one of these. Not only are they economically, they'll increase the longevity of our world, and while you may be gone, your legacy can protect the rest of our world for decades to come.
